NEWS & HIGHLIGHTS

Happy New Year to everyone and welcome back to the second half of Rowan Profs Hockey. With only a short few weeks remaining in the season before the Playoffs start, Rowan is gearing up to finish strong.

The Outdoor Classic held this past weekend was another great success and a huge hit even in the sub-freezing temperatures. As Rowan played in their 5th outdoor game in six years, this time their were invited as guests by hosts Villanova University. With guests and members looking on and Rowan TV broadcasting, it turned out to be a really good and close game. Rowan led after the first period 1-0 thanks to Alec Nicolai's short-handed goal and then 2-1 after the second. After hitting numerous posts the Profs scored back to back goals to take a 4-1 lead and never looked back. After Villanova scored with less than a minute remaining while on the power play, the final score was 4-2 in favor of Rowan. We want to thank Villanova for inviting us and along with Navesink for being great hosts.

The Profs now begin their quest to the playoffs starting this weekend, January 19th and 20th. On Friday Rowan takes on the #5 Liberty Flames at the LaHaye Center. This will be their second meeting of the season after the 4-4 tie earlier this year. Then on Saturday, they round up their southern Virginia trip when they play #11 Virginia Tech for the first time this year.

Rowan is pleased to announce that the Rowan Television Network (RTN) has joined forces to broadcast games live this year on their network. RTN will have a four camera setup to give audiences different angles and have live commentary along with pre and post game interviews. We

are excited to have RTN on board and hope it will be a great season for live broadcasting. You can check out all the live feed through RTN.LIVE.

The latest 2014/2015 rankings have Rowan Ice Hockey currently ranked in the #6 position in the Southeast region. The third ranking ended in December 2014 and should be out soon.

Rowan's coaches John Caulfield and Mike Husek celebrated the 100th overall win on November 9, 2012. Everyone at Rowan Ice Hockey would like to congratulate both coaches on a great milestone and for what they have been able to achieve.

The Rowan University campus newspaper, The Whit, has featured the ice hockey program in their top stories. The program is one of the best fan supported sports on campus and we appreciate The Whit for their involvement. To read any of the articles please log on to the Whit

Rowan once again participated in the D2 ACHA Showcase which was held in Mentor (Clevaland), Ohio this October and included teams from around the nation. Rowan played three teams that are usually not on their schedule and which are ahead of them in rankings . On

Friday evening, the Profs suited up against Lindenwood Bellville as a first ever meeting between the two clubs. The team from Bellville hasn't lost a game and is so deep in talent that makes the team look like a NCAA team. The Profs lost 10-0, however they got to experience to play against one of the best teams in the nation if not the best. On Saturday, the Profs faced off against regional opponent Dayton. Rowan looked good against Dayton as they came out with a victory however their next game against regionally ranked Toledo was a little different and much tougher. The Profs gave up a late 3rd period lead before they finally won it OT. It was a great learning experience and even though they didn't come out of the showcase 3-0 like they did in 2012, the team showed they are a top team in the Southeast.

Rowan celebrated their 35th year as an organization during the 2011/2012 season. It has been a great 35 years and we hope to continue the great tradition moving forward. We would like to thank everyone who has contributed over the years and who have made this the most

popular sport on campus.
